Column, RGB Mirror, Triangular Progression, 2016
96 x 24 inches
red, green, blue acrylic mirror, plywood, silicone
The RGB mirror column was conceived as an opportunity to engage RGB additive color mixing with the quasi-zoetrope like experience of the clear mirrored column; I thought it might in some way reconstitute the reflection of the viewer into some visible totality. The RGB mirror column fails at this, but instead provides a unique and different kind of visual experience, fracturing and tinting the light of the gallery and the image of the viewer simultaneously. The RGB mirror column is comprised of a stack of twelve regular prisms with numbers of sides that follow the triangular progression: 3, 6, 10, 15, 21, 28, 36, 45, 55, 66, 78, and 91.
