Column, White, Natural Progression, 2016
96 x 24 inches
paint on plywood
The white column’s surface is a plain matte white wall paint that diffusely reflects the light in the room, invoking a general blankness as well as the ways that the conventional gallery space aspires to a clinical elegance. Using the natural number sequence for the number of sides per level, this work is topped by a triangular prism that is placed upon a square one which is placed upon a pentagonal one, then a hexagonal one and so forth until the bottom prism that has fourteen faces.
